Old wood full of harmony

Is aged wood safer than old wood?

Wooden furniture, floors or wall panels are back in favor. The beauty of wood has been appreciated for many years, and today the interest in it is still growing. Currently, there are many options available on the market, so not everyone is sure which one is the best for decorating their home.

One of the biggest dilemmas is choosing between aged and old wood. At first, it may not seem like there is much difference, but it can actually make a big difference.

How do you age wood?

Aged wood seems like a great choice, but is it really?  To get the aged wood effect, you need to start by preparing new wood.

The first step is felling the tree. Only later do manufacturers give it an aged effect. With the help of brushing, its fragments are damaged. Thanks to this treatment, the wood has highlighted rings. By removing the soft parts, it gives it a rustic look that is natural in old wood.

In this way, manufacturers want to get the effect of wood that was exposed to all weather conditions: sun, frost and rain.

To most effectively convey the character of "old wood" chemical staining is also used. This is one of the most controversial stages. Through the use of tannin, as well as tannins, the desired color of aged wood can be obtained.

Why choose old wood instead of aged wood?

When decorating your home it's worth choosing solid materials that will serve for a long time. It is especially important to choose durable floorboards, as they can be the most vulnerable to damage. If you opt for old wood, you shouldn't be afraid of its lack of durability. Thanks to the fact that wood has been exposed to rain, frost and heat, it will surely endure in the comfort of your home.

Unfortunately, there is no such certainty in the case of aged wood. This is due to the lack of knowledge about the age that the felled tree has reached. To create durable furniture, a tree should be between 80 and 120 years old. Unfortunately, there is no certainty that aged wood has reached this age.

Ecology first and foremost!

Old wood is a much more eco-friendly choice because it uses wood from the demolition of barns, houses, and fences, among other things. This allows you to add a warm atmosphere without having to cut down more trees.

However, one of the biggest pluses of this choice is that it is as natural as possible. You don't have to use staining chemicals to treat it like you would with aged wood. Old boards are already naturally beautiful and do not need any additional enhancements.

They only need to be cleaned of pests using heat treatment. This is how old paralel cut plank are created. The lack of chemicals makes it safe to use old wood in your living room or even in your child's room.

We do not create "aged wood." We give the best possible option, which is selected old wood.
